The Sanskrit word Aum (also Om), has counterparts in Devanagari (ॐ), Chinese (唵), and Tibetan(ༀ). In Sanskrit it known as praṇava or omkāra. “[It] is a mystical or sacred syllable in the Indian religions, including Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism. It is first described as all-encompassing mystical entity in the Upanishads.”
